School is back in session for my kids and I found THIS M&M cookie recipe to make for my kids on their first day as an after school treat and for their teachers as gifts.
Ok, so I'm not actually sure that my review of this recipe is accurate because I used butter instead of the shortening that it called for (advice that I followed from other recipe reviewers).
It was a yummy, buttery cookie and I really enjoyed it but I would prefer a plumper cookie so I probably should have (and will next time) done a combo of half butter and half shortening to achieve this.
It made a lot of cookies too (around 34), which was a really great plus! I had enough cookies to hand out to teachers and still have some left over to freeze for a quick homemade treat in my kid's lunch boxes.
Also, with crayons being so cheap this time of year, I bought a bunch of packs to make containers to put the cookies in. I've seen so many people online glue crayons to cans/boxes and etc that I thought I'd give it a try.
If you haven't tried this project before and want to, here's what I used:
*bottom portion of a large cardboard milk carton
*2-3 packs of crayons for each container
*green pipe cleaner (to line the top rim of the milk carton)
Happy New School Year!
P.S. If you have kids in school now, what artsy plans do you have for the school year????
